Senior Web Application Developer

 

Position Summary

This position requires a professional, who is highly experienced in the discipline of Web application development, to build components of an Intranet Portal and Dashboard systems.

The candidate must have a thorough understanding of Web technologies, 3-Tier Web application development, Java, and the ability to understand business objectives and requirements. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining custom components of COTS dashboard and portal systems.

 

Required JobQualifications/Competencies
  • The candidate must:
  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a senior developer in the design, development, testing, deployment and
  • support of business critical web applications
  • Have experience in integrating web applications with external SQL database systems
  • Be able to break down complex tasks into manageable pieces
  • Be able to work independently on multiple concurrent tasks
  • Be able to work closely with peers in team development process
  • Have the ability to estimate reliably the time, effort and resources required for completing a task
  • Have the ability to complete tasks on time and within budget
  • Be able to learn the intricacies of the new COTS portal and dashboard systems
  • Take the lead in training other developers in administering and developing for the new dashboard and portal systems
  • Good presentation and written communication skills and the ability to work closely with peers and team members in a collaborative manner.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, information technology, or systems engineering or equivalent work experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Serve as a Senior Developer in the technical design, development, testing, deployment and support of the new Intranet portal and the dashboard systems,
  2. Review and critique all designs and code produced by the organizations contracted to build parts of these systems,
  3. Work as a member of a team of developers, with others typically providing primary UI and database design,
  4. Isolate and correct bugs in the systems,
  5. Provide feedback to management on cost estimates provided by the contracting organizations,
  6. Set coding standards for intranet development and monitor and verify use of coding standards by contracting organizations,
  7. Participate in functional, regression, and load testing new releases prior to deployment,
  8. Develop support documentation for new systems to facilitate Helpdesk and datacenter support.

 

ENVIRONMENT/PLATFORM SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:

Enterprise Asset Management Systems - MRO Maximo, Maximus LinearFocus, Spear Technology LinearAsset or SAP Plant Management

 

EXPERIENCE:TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Three or more years active development experience with: HTML, JavaScript, Java, Java Server Pages, Beans, EJB, Application Servers, Database systems (preferably MS SQL server), and SQL.
  • Two or more years development experience with ASP, Linux, .Net, Windows IIS webserver, PHP, UML, XML. Experience with Agile Development / XP processes.
